Decks & Exterior Living Spaces in The Blue Mountains
Mountain properties are exposed to slope, snow, wind and serious freeze-thaw. We build decks, porches and outdoor spaces that are made for that environment instead of just looking good on day one.

Why this work is different in the blue mountains
The Blue Mountains is one of the hardest places in the region to build an exterior living space well. Lots sit on steep grades, the wind off Georgian Bay can be brutal, and the snow load is real. If the footings or framing are undersized, the deck will show it after a few seasons.
We also see a lot of chalet-style or rental properties here where the exterior space is part of the value proposition. The deck or porch needs to hold up to heavy use, winter weather and the occasional pressure of a short seasonal turnaround. That means planning the structure first and the finishes second.
Our approach is simple: build to the site conditions, get the permits where required, and make the outdoor space feel like a real extension of the house.
What changes the scope here
Slope, bedrock and exposed footings
Lots on the escarpment can move from shallow soil to bedrock quickly. Footings and framing need to be designed around that reality, not against it.
Snow load and freeze-thaw
Decks here live through heavy snow, melt and refreeze cycles. That is why correctly sized framing and frost-depth footings matter so much.
Wind exposure off Georgian Bay
Railings, privacy screens and roofed structures need more than a decorative approach. Fastening and structural detail make the difference between solid and noisy.
Rental and chalet use
Short-term rental owners need outdoor space that is durable and easy to maintain. We build with that use case in mind.
